Details:

Battle at a Border Burh (fictional), 910 A.D. Although the battle is fictional, the leaders and the forces are historical.

Setting: King Edward I of Wessex and King Aethelred II of Mercia were combining their amies at a burh on the Mercia and Wessex boarder to oppose the invading Vikings. Just before they arrived, King Halfdan II of Jorvik [York] and the Jarls of the Danelaw arrive to attack the same burh. The local nobleman and his levy are holding the burh waiting on the Saxon and Mercian armies to reinforce them before the Vikings arrive.

Troop size: 15mm with about 600 figures on the game board

Title: The Battles at Dorylaeum, 1 July 1097 link

Setting: Following the siege at Nicaea, the Crusader army marched through a bleak area of central Anatolia. Seeing the Turkish army deployed and blocking its path, the Crusader advanced deployed and began to set-up defensive camps. The Turks then attacked, and three-phase battle ensued which resulted in a Crusader victory.

Title: Gettysburg - the 1^st day - July 1, 1863

Setting: On July 1, elements of the Army of the Potomac and the Army of Northern Virginia were converging on Gettysburg, PA. Federal Brig. Gen. John Buford's 1^st Cavalry Division arrived first and took up defensive positions on the ridges northwest of town. Buford successfully delayed the lead element of Lt. Gen. A. P. Hill's Confederate III Corps for 2 hours, buying time for Maj. Gen. John F. Reynolds' Union I Corps to arrive. The game starts as Maj. Gen. Heth's division commences his attack on Reynolds' position.

Title: The Battles at Dorylaeum, 1 July 1097

Setting: The Battle of Dorylaeum took place during the First Crusade on 1 July 1097 between the crusader forces and the Seljuk Turks, near the city of Dorylaeum in Anatolia. Though the Turkish forces of Kilij Arslan nearly destroyed the Crusader contingent of Bohemond, other Crusaders arrived just in time to reverse the course of the battle. There are three scenarios and we'll try to get all three played.

Title: Retreat from Concord, April 19, 1775

Setting: After the British expedition was stymie at Concord when they couldn't find the Patriots munitions supplies, they began to retire through Lexington back to Boston. But the Patriot Minute Men and militia continued to gather and harass the British retreat. Can the British make it out of the Patriot trap?

And fired the shot heard round the world.

First stanza of "Concord Hymn" (original title "Hymn: Sung at the Completion of the Concord Monument, April 19, 1836") is a poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson written for the 1837 dedication of an obelisk monument in Concord, Massachusetts, commemorating the battles of Lexington and Concord, a series of battles and skirmishes on April 19, 1775 which sparked the American Revolutionary War. The poem was the origin of the phrase "shot heard round the world".
